An Overview of Hydroelectric Power Plant: Operation, Modeling, and Control
Renewable energy provides twenty percent of electricity generation worldwide. Hydroelectric power is the cheapest way to generate electricity today. It is a renewable source of energy and provides almost one-fifth of electricity in the world. Also, it generates electricity using a renewable natural resource and accounting for six percent of worldwide energy supply or about fifteen percent of th...
متن کاملMicrochannel reactors for fast periodic operation: the catalytic dehydration of isopropanol
A microchannel reactor specially designed for periodic operation and a process to deposit a catalyst, -alumina, inside the reactor channels were developed. The hydrodynamics of the reactor was characterised. Although the #ow in the microchannels is laminar, a uniform radial concentration pro"le and consequently a narrow residence time distribution were obtained. Depending on the manufacturing m...
متن کاملHydrogen production by catalytic cracking of methane over nickel gauze under periodic reactor operation
The catalytic cracking of methane over nickel gauze is proposed as an attractive alternative for the production of CO-free hydrogen. The catalyst deactivates due to intensive coke deposition. Therefore, the reactor was operated periodically with the reaction followed by the catalyst regeneration by burning of coke in oxidative atmosphere. The optimal reaction performance was found to consist of...
متن کاملOverview of Lep Operation in 1998
After the installation of 32 additional RF cavities in the 1997-1998 shutdown LEP was operated at a beam energy of 94.5 GeV. The total integrated luminosity for the year 1998 clearly surpassed its target and reached 198 pb. Vertical beam-beam tuneshifts of more than 0.07 were obtained. The performance did not seem to be beambeam limited, but the total beam current was limited by power dissipati...
متن کاملOperando XAFS study of catalytic NO reduction over Cu/CeO2: the effect of copper-ceria interaction under periodic operation.
Using an operando time-resolved XAFS technique at the Cu and Ce K-edges, we have discovered that the synchronization of Cu and Ce valence change in Cu/CeO2 under periodic (rich-lean cycling) operation can improve the catalytic activity for NO reduction at low temperature.
